We're havin fun here, no?Daniel McDowell
Dan McDowell is a radio co-host (and noted marijuana afficionado) on the popular Dallas radio show BaD radio. He hosts the show alongside Bob Sturm on the Dallas sports station KTCK The Ticket.
As a child, McDowell was the product of an extremely alternative lifestyle household, being the child of three fathers. Before working in Dallas, McDowell worked as an ad salesman and on-air personality at several radio stations in Ohio. Speculations abound as to how Dan became hooked on cannabis; a Cleveland derelict tells a story of how McDowell first encountered a roach clip after a sordid evening involving former Cleveland Cavaliers stars Brad Daugherty and Mark Price.
In 1999, McDowell began working at KTCK with Sturm on BaD radio. Over the years, his popularity and notoriety have grown in leaps and bounds. McDowell has been described by many as very confrontational in an attempt to hide his overall lack of interest in Dallas sports. This has led to squabbles with Sturm himself, other members of the Ticket staff, and TV personality Newy Scruggs. He is one of the few members of the Ticket staff to spar verbally with host Gordon Keith and survive with his job and/or dignity intact. The most violent of his confrontations occured in early 2005 with ESPN analyst Lee Corso. After making a joke about Corso posing nude for Cosmopolitan, Corso berated McDowell on the air and called him a "big jerk". Taken aback, McDowell then let loose with his now legendary comment of "We're having fun here, no?" After this, the two parted ways rather peacefully in comparison to the explosive nature of the interview just moments prior. Some speculators claim that Corso was in fact in a secret relationship with McDowell, and his rant against him was a direct result of being a jilted lover.
Dan is currently serving a year-long tour of duty as a vagetarian. His battles with his weight have been chronicled well throughout the years, as McDowell has previously been a sponsor of weight loss supplements.
Although Ticket personalities frequently disparage morning host's Norm Hitzges's "Dad" humor, BAD radio's "sixth-grade baseball coach" humor is often more annoying.
Dan McDowell is a three time nominee for "Sports Radio Personality Of The Year" by High Times Magazine. He lives in Grapevine, TX with his wife and two children, one of which cannot say the work "clock" properly.
